Our intent is to honor and support our troops with care packages in order to show them we are grateful for their service and to make their tour just a little easier by supplying them with needed items from home. We are working with The American Legion Post 490 Auxiliary Unit to send these items to the troops.
We would also like to enhance and advance our La Porte Municipal Airport (T-41) as the “Aviation Gateway” to the City of La Porte and to its industrial neighbors. And to enlighten the public and our young people of the historical role that this airport has played as a military auxiliary field for Ellington Air Force Base (now Ellington Field) in World War One and Two. Impressing upon all the continuing need for The La Porte Airport to remain a proud and profitable asset to the community.
This is a great opportunity to educate our children about aviation and how it has served us so well for transportation, inspiration, protection and sport. It’s a pathway to the “Stars”. We look forward to involving the ROTC Aviation Cadet Program and the Boy Scouts of America as helpers as we seek to infuse the youthful minds with soaring possibilities.
